Activities of Daily Living (ADL)
  • A term used by healthcare professionals to assess and evaluate the need and type of health care a person may require.
     
  • Activities of daily living are basic personal care activities necessary for everyday living and survival including, mobility, eating, bathing, grooming, dressing, and toileting.
     
  • ADLs are often used as an assessment tool to determine an individual's ability to function at home, or in a less restricted environment of care.
